Earning the Letter

Better than Before

Roger Hayward was on his way to get food for his girlfriend when another car waved him forward at a left turn. That was the last thing he remembered before he woke up in a hospital after being in a coma. The community and surrounding communities alike rallied around the Michigan Center High School student, starting the movement #RogerStrong. The senior standout athlete had to relearn how to walk, all while saying goodbye to his football career. Turning his focus to basketball, his journey back to the court embodies what it means to be #RogerStrong.

In it for Ike

Vinny Multhaupt was born with several life-threatening conditions, but he was a fighter from day one. Raised in a football family, his father is a coach for Eisenhower football, his godfather is the head coach, and his brother is on the varsity roster. The Freshman grew up in the culture of Ike football and joined the team as the waterboy the moment he became eligible. Community and family are the basis of this football program, one that transcends the big game's final score.

No Limits

Devin Holmes was the biggest kid in his grade when he was in Elementary school, so his mom decided that he should play football. Holme's love of the game grew instantaneously and led him to the Bloomfield Hills High School varsity football team. In his senior year, he was named team captain, making history as the school's first profoundly deaf captain. He mastered how to navigate the field in his own way, with a team behind him that believes in his leadership.

Growing the Game

Abby Tamer is breaking records and making history as the first field hockey player from the state of Michigan to be selected for Team USA's under-17 roster. As an athlete, Abby is always focused on the obstacles in front of her. That doesn't mean she forgets everyone who came before, paving the way for her. Michigan has been growing its field hockey programs slowly for years, culminating in Tamer representing the Mitten on the global stage in Germany.
